ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Already in the 1850s there were two factories in Karlshamn that produced punch - J N von Bergen & Son and C G Bergs. The spirits king L O Smith bought Bergs and brought the production to his own distillery. In 1885, Smith registered a new trademark with two crossed Swedish naval flags for his Carlshamn punch - which came to be known colloquially as the flag punch. Later, Vin & Sprit AB took over the business. In 2008, after Vin & Sprit's factory in Sundsvall was shut down, production was moved to Turku in Finland. Today, the brand is owned by Pernod Ricard and manufactured in Pansio just outside Turku, where Pernod Ricard and the juice manufacturer Eckes Granini share the premises.
